FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Soccer Camps

Q: Do I have to stay with my child for the day?

A: No, this is a drop-and-run event. Parents are welcome to hang around and watch/work remotely. We understand some children can be nervous with Mum/Dad leaving our aim is to make them comfortable without a carer being present by having lots of fun!

Q: What time is drop off and pick up?

A: Drop-off & sign-in is open from 8 am. Please be signed in by 8:50 so we can start roll call and grouping allocations at 9 am. Pick up for half day is 12 pm, 3 pm for a full day.

Q: Will my child be safe and well looked after?

A: Yes, we overstaff our events to ensure they are having fun in a safe environment. All our team members have Working With Children Checks and at least one First Aider. We have one person on the sign-in desk all day manning the phone and watching children go in and out of the toilets. One event manager oversees the day.

Q: How are attendees organised into groups?

A: A lot of time and planning goes into organising groups. Players are initially placed based on age and ability in a maximum group size of 12. Our 2 floating coaches will move players around certain groups to ensure they are getting the correct level of coaching and are being challenged.

Q: What do the ECSS floating coaches do?

A: We have two floating Senior coaches who move around all the groups. They are assessing players to ensure they are in the right level group, being sufficiently challenged or moved to a less challenging group if required. They are also there to
support our coaches and jump into sessions when required.

Q: How do you deal with bullying/swearing?

A: We have zero tolerance for any form of bullying, swearing, or spitting policy. By overstaffing the event we are all (including two floating coaches) keeping a close eye on the above. If someone is misbehaving we pull them to oneside to have a chat, then it is a time out at the desk, then the last resort is to call the primary carer.

Q: What should my child bring /wear?

A: Comfy clothing (ideally shorts, jersey & socks) Shinpads. Dependent on the weather - jumper, sunscreen, rain jacket. Most of the time we require players to wear hats when out on the field.

Water bottle, snacks, lunch (enough to get them through the day!)

Q: Can my child/myself choose what group they go into?

A: We do our best to balance the group and tailor the sessions to the group's ability level. Providing the players requested that are going together are of similar age/ability then it should not be a problem.

Q: Do they need ECSS uniforms/kits?

A: ECSS kits are optional. Most players like to get the uniform and have their name on the back for some fun. Some are happy wearing their own kit.

Q: How is the day structured?

A: We call the groups at 08:55 ready for a 9 am start on the field. We bring the groups in for a snack break at 10:30-10:45 then head back out until 12pm. Then, a 40-minute interactive lunch break followed by the world-famous COACHES CHALLENGE!

Groups will have a different coach each morning and afternoon. Switching coaches frequently allows the players to receive multiple types of coaching styles, drills, and techniques which is great for player development.

Q: Does my child need to bring money?

A: We do our best to have a coffee wagon serving caffeine for the parents in the morning. From the first break attendees can purchase soft drinks & snacks. We take no responsibility for the loss of money.

Q: What happens when it rains or is too hot?

A: We will continue in the rain until it becomes unsafe to carry on. A little rain never hurt anyone. If it comes down heavy we will stay in the sheltered area and head out in lighter periods. In hot weather, we utilise more shaded areas and will take extra water breaks, and enforce a  “no hat no play” policy.

Q: What happens if the event gets cancelled?

A: We will offer credit or a refund (excluding the booking fee)

Q: My child cannot do a full day, is this ok?

A: Yes please just contact us to let us know.

Q: Will my child receive a medal/goodie bag?

A: Everyone will receive a participation medal. We endeavor to provide a goodie back for each participant however, this is dependent on sponsors supporting the event. We do have special awards for stand-out participants (based on teamwork, listening skills, progression etc)
